One of the many reasons I envy Europeans is because their countries are relatively close together which allows them to visit a whole other culture that is basically in their backyard.
The United States is so huge that seeing the whole thing is a big task, especially if you’re like me and you also want to see the whole entire world!! But I have made it a goal now to spend quality time in every one of the 50 states. We’ve begun chipping away at the East Coast with weekend trips, but I reallllly need to get out to the West Coast soon! Check out my progress which I will be updating every couple of months! How many states have you been to?

23, not half way there yet. If I include drive through then I can add quite a few more. I had once driven from Missouri to California, once from California to Yellowstone National Park and once from California to Calgary, Canada.

That’s awesome! I visited a few states where I just stayed in a hotel so I don’t count those, I want to get to know the area a little for it to count π

I agree. Passing through or overnight stay can’t count as a visit. Alas, majority of us do not have the luxury of time or resources for a leisurely visit.

I have been to 8, but have driven through another 4. I do have a goal of visiting all 50 someday.

Hiya. I’ve been to Florida, California, New York and Pennsylvania but I’m so impressed at the thought of going to all 50 states! I thought going to all 48 of England’s counties was a bit of an adventure (which is on my bucket list which I’ll do by the end of the year) but 50 states is something else! Yep, over in Eastern Europe, many countries are nearby and brilliant for a road trip!

Ah so jealous! Crazy you can go to all the counties in one year! It will definitely take me many years to get to every state

I have done everything east of the Mississippi River. I need to expand more. My children have made it their goal to visit all 50 states so I guess we had better cross the river soon!

That’s awesome!! How fun they are motivating you to cross the river π

I’ve only spent significant time in 12 of them, but am looking forward to more

I’ve been to more European countries than I have states in my own.
I have lived in NY, FL, Ca. and visited most of the New England States. I’ve lived in Germany, Belgium, visited France, England, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Turkey, Canada, Bermuda, Bahamas, The Virgin Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, and on and on…I like to travel. π

Being from the Uk, I have always wanted to visit the US….this is on my to-do-list. I have easy access to a lot of the best places that the UK has to offer but I haven’t been to nearly half of those places either. I think its time to put my own list together and start ticking them off.

Definitely! It’s always fun to explore your own backyard π

I agree. Europeans have it easier than they know. A friend of mine lived in Italy for a while, and used to take spring breaks to Spain, Germany, etc.
Anywho, I’ve been to 21 states.

They are so lucky! For us to travel out of the country it’s such an ordeal

I’m at 40! I have Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Alaska, and North Dakota left. This is mostly the product of road trips as a kid. I had an aunt who lived in about 12 different states when I was growing up and my parents always drove us to go see her. I hope to have all 50 by the time I’m 30! I just don’t have any idea what will bring me to North Dakota. There’s a reason the souvenir shops there sell “I saved the best for last” shirts.

Well I have been to 4 of the states you haven’t been to (and visiting Rhode Island this weekend!) and I can say that they are all very beautiful! Haha and I’m sure North Dakota has something to see too!

During my 19 years living in the states, I managed to visit 25 states. Still long way to go to complete all.

I have been to about half of the states now, but the west coast is my favorite! Make sure you drive down the 101, get fresh fruit in Oregon, and check out some of the less populated beaches near Monterey!

I would love to do that!! Reallyyy need to get to the west coast

I loved your post!! I have been to at least 26 states, so I’m a little more than half way there! But just like you, I envy Europe due to the fact that everything is close by. If you ever come to the west coast, feel free to reach out! I can totally help you on budgeting for a cost-effective vacation π

I will definitely reach out! Traveling from the east coast to west coast can be so pricey

That’s awesome you’re halfway there! I’ve been to a lot of countries and barely any states – I’ve been to Canada, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Mexico, Iceland, and a couple islands! Gotta see more states π
