5 Ways To Cleanse This Year

I don’t really believe in starting off the New Year with insane health goals. But I do believe in the excitement around a new time that can motivate you to be healthier and be a better you. I would never push for crazy diets or starting to overdo it on your work outs, but I do think we can all take a step to cleanse this year. It’s a great time to Marie Kondo your life and only hold onto things that spark joy!

  1. Go through your phone contacts
I had a lot of people in my phone that I haven’t spoken to in over 4 years or never really spoke to in the first place. I cleaned out my contacts mostly because I have a great fear of butt dialing random people, but also because it was time to just clear out the negative people and people who don’t add to my life.
  2. Clear the cupboards
I don’t think anyone should diet, but I do think everyone should evaluate what they’re eating and make lifestyle changes. I unfortunately work in a field where I see people pass away from preventable illnesses, I’m now trying to focus on what I eat just for my long term health and wellness.
  3. Donate old clothes
Let it gooooooo! I’ve actually been doing this bi-monthly. I’m at a point in my life where my style is changing. When I buy something new (actually I usually buy second-hand) I throw something in the donate pile. I don’t need an overflowing closet for any reason.
  4. Spring cleaning in winter
Have you done a full vacuum of your house or dusting or cleaning all your sheets and blankets? Sometimes we put these things off until spring, but it feels SO good to have a fully clean house, so why not do it every season?
  5. Skin care routine
Do you have a skin care routine? I don’t really, but I’m working on it. I’m becoming very aware of how old I am and therefore I’m aware of what my skin may look like in 10 or 20 years. I am trying to cleanse my skin and create a skin care routine that works for me!

  1. These are some great, practical tips! I like how many of them focus on the mental aspect of cleansing. When I read the title, I was thinking more along the lines of detox teas and whatnot πŸ˜‚ What I found instead was a list that I will start implementing in my own life. Thank you!

The phone contacts resonated with me a lot – I have such a hard time deleting numbers because I feel like it’s a metaphor for deleting the person from my life.
