How Would You Describe Yourself?

Tell me about yourself! Give me one fun fact about yourself! What do you like to do for fun? What are your hobbies? What are 3 words to describe yourself?

No thanks. It should be easy to talk about myself. I mean, who knows me better than me? But I absolutely hate talking myself and talking myself up. It’s the hardest thing to do. I struggle with this when meeting new people, when I was dating, when I was interviewing, and in job performance reviews.

I just have a hard time describing myself, I wish everyone knew everything about me the moment I met them. That way you’d know my hobbies that I can never remember off the top of my head, you’d know why I am the way I am, and we could move on with our lives.

Alas, life doesn’t work like that. And unless you’re my boyfriend, my best friend, or an avid reader of my blog – you probably don’t know that much about me.

If I had to describe myself right now I would say:

“Hi, I’m Rosie. I really like my dog and I have always been pretty okay at writing. I’m stressed out a lot and never stop thinking. I feel like I’m 22 and still in college, but I’m actually 27 and struggling to feel young. How are you?”

What would you say if you had to describe yourself right now?

Hi. I’m Greg. I’m 19 years old. One fun fact about me is that I’m fascinated by maps and roads and highways. One of my best friends I met because someone else who knew about this hobby of mine challenged me to guess where this new friend was from if she told me the highways in her hometown.* For fun, I like reading, going for bike rides, and exploring this fascinating new technology called the Internet. I would describe myself as studious, shy, and… I hate these things, do I have to think of a third word?… maybe creative, but I hide that from a lot of people.

  2. Hi I’m Yvonne and at 50ish, I’ve had a bunch of life experiences. I’m a cancer survivor (almost 20 years!), divorced mom of sons and found my calling in helping people to joyfully change their lives so that they find happiness. I’m creative, bilingual and spiritual. Nice to meet you Rosie! πŸ™‚

  3. Hi, I’m Maja,
spiritual being living on the edge of this artistic journey called Life πŸ˜€ I never take rules seriously, because I’m a free soul.
I enjoy reading, writing, yoga, having a lot of laughs with friends, MUSIC…just to name a few.
I’m also the founder of Black Rabbit Tea brand and published poetry writer.

The thing is, we could all say these few things about ourselves, but to meet somebody, you have to be face to face with that person. Because the energy that we have is who we really are!

By the way, you’re doing great with telling us about you πŸ™‚

  4. I’m Amy and I am the first one to admit that have a very unique personality… LOL! And honestly I love standing out! Blending in is not my style! I prefer my hair to be short because I just don’t want to mess with it! I prefer pants over skirts and dresses. I’m not that much into makeup. I don’t want to spend a whole lot of time standing in front of the mirror. I’m in my 40’s so my hair is starting to turn gray and I LOVE itπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜! I say bring it onπŸ˜πŸ‘! I’m an avid reader and I love listening to music from my YouTube playlists. I am an inspirational and motivation writer to help others embrace themselves especially those who don’t live according to society’s standards.

  5. I’m Aaron. I know the pandemic has sucked for the vast majority of the planet, but I’ve kind of thrived in it, being an introvert who wants nothing more than to work from home and interact with as few people as possible on a regular basis. Doesn’t mean I can’t interact with people. Doesn’t mean I’m not necessarily okay at interacting with people. I’d just rather not. I, too, feel like I’m 22 and still in college. Okay, maybe 25 and still trying to figure out this adulting thing. Except in my case I’m 41 and should probably have a decent 401k going.

Oh, and in my evaluations at work, I absolutely hate when they ask what I think my strengths have been over the last six months. It’s not that I don’t like to toot my own horn. It’s that I don’t know how to. Luckily, I currently have a supervisor who is willing to provide eternally optimistic praise for all the things I do.

  6. It’s so tough talking about yourself isn’t it? Not a comfortable feeling at all. Some people seem to love it though don’t they? Much rather deflect attention on to someone else.
