The Never-Ending Search For A Hobby That Sticks

Hi, I’m Rosie and I get bored easily.

I’m not sure if it’s just part of my Gemini personality or if I have some sort of  attention-deficit disorder, but I have a really hard time sticking to one thing. I also have a hard time paying attention to conversations, but that’s a whole different can of worms.

I am pretty much always on the search for a new hobby. And I’ll enjoy it for a little while until it becomes too hard to learn or too tedious and then I drop it and never revisit it. Seriously, if you took a look into my crafting closet it looks like the word hobby just blew up in there. I used to be really into reading, I got into embroidery for a while, I learned how to crochet and knit (not well though).

My most recent interest is getting into witchy kinds of things. I have been really interested in the evil eye for the past year or so and have recently bought my first deck of tarot cards.

I guess it’s nothing new, I’ve always been into spooky stuff without knowing how to get into it, but I can’t help but wonder if it will keep my interest? Is this just another hobby I will eventually leave behind?

I wish I was better at just enjoying things, I take such a temporary approach to most things in my life and I think it affects me down the road because I just have no attention span and am always on the look for the next best thing.

  1. It must be a Leo thing too because I’m like this as well. I have a hard time paying attention to conversations and sticking to hobbies long-term. I will start a project and move on before it’s completed. I have to make a conscious effort to pick 1-3 things max, and eliminate the rest. Having a limited number of options helps. I think this is why I lean towards minimalism and a simpler life.

      1. They couldn’t diagnose me but I’m guessing that I have ADD. It really helps to just focus on the necessary things that keep us going, and to eliminate the fluff. Self-care is important but I limit it to a few things and that’s it. Give me too many options and that’s when I get too overwhelmed. My memory is horrible so I have to make lists. It’s the only way for me to have a sense of control.
