Last month, I wrote about the Great Resignation and how inspired I was by the people who were gaining the courage to leave their jobs and do what makes them happy.
I can now say I’m one of those people. I’m not so adventurous that I didn’t have a job lined up before I quit, but I did decide to move on from something that wasn’t working for me.
I’m constantly jarred by the fact that I spend more time with coworkers than I do my own family, that most of my life is spent working. I understand that not everyone has the luxury of moving on from a toxic workplace wherever they want, but it’s so important for work not to weigh you down every day when it’s such a huge factor in life.
In my career, I’ve come across multiple toxic coworkers and workplaces. I’ve even admitted that sometimes I’m the problem. And I’ve always had the fear that maybe I would never be happy no matter where I went.
But that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t at least try, right?
Doing what makes you happy in an environment that is full of kindness, support and healthy people is priceless! I am happy for you!

I left mine as well. It’s a tough decision to do, and not everyone makes the choice to leave a job that isn’t serving them well. Congrats!
