An Appearance Slump

I don’t know if I should chalk it up to weather or laziness, but I’ve been in a slump with my appearance.

I rarely do my hair, just throw it up in a pony or let it be its frizzy, wavy self. I put eyeliner on maybe once a week, my make up is always bare minimum. Unless I’m going out on the weekend, my appearance is always a little half assed.

Even when we go out to dinner after work or out to take a walk, I opt for sweatpants and minimal make up. Which is fine sometimes, but eventually your self esteem takes a hit because you’re not really taking care of yourself.

I can’t really blame myself for falling into this slump. I see the same people almost every day of the week. I have the same routine. What’s the point in jazzing it up and spending time getting ready when I could be sleeping?

The weather warmed up this week and I really realized the neglect I’ve been imposing on myself and the impact your appearance and inner confidence has on other people. The weather put me in a better mood so I threw on a dress and had a great day. Then I put on a skirt the next day with some lipstick and I got so many “good mornings” and another great day!

I took selfies this weekend, felt good about myself, and felt motivated enough to want to start my healthier habits of eating better and working out more. That has been a goal for me for so long, but I just couldn’t get out of the slump.

Just a little extra effort has gone a long way for me. Have you ever had an appearance slump?

The Hookup On: Misfit Vapor Smartwatch

Ever since adopting Kaya, I know my activity level has been up. I’ve skipped the gym a lot, but I walk her every single day. It’s funny to think how one little dog can help kick your butt into gear! I really wasn’t sure how much she was getting me up on my feet though until I started using the Misfit Vapor Smartwatch.

I haven’t used any kind of smartwatch or fitness tracking watch before. I sometimes used my phone’s health statistics but they were pretty unreliable.

The Misfit Vapor Smartwatch is very sleek and modern, I have it in all black. It’s a touchscreen smartwatch that puts everything you need to stay active and connected right on your wrist. I synced it to my iPhone, but it can also be used on Android phones!

Some of the features I love are that it can play music, track my heart rate, and it’s swim proof! I especially love that it connects to my phone and can show my all of my notifications and alerts from my phone.

After syncing up my watch, I realized that I walk 4x more now that I have Kaya! And I realized that I can definitely do better than that. Every month I make a goal to get more active, I’ve been wanting to get in better shape for so long now. I think this watch will provide me with the information and motivation I need to do just that! 🙂 Check it out at www.misfit.com/Vapor.

6 Things I Care Too Much About

I care a lot, I pretend not to care a lot. There are many things that I pay no mind to – but there are just some things that I care too much about. That don’t deserve as much attention as they get. It’s the ugly truth, these are the things I care too much about:

  1. How much I weigh
It’s not even the number that haunts me, but any extra jiggle.
  2. How many likes I get on Instagram
Guys I know it doesn’t matter, but it kind of matters.
  3. Going out without make up on
I’ve seriously been conditioned to wear make up, I’ve been wearing it since I was like 13 and don’t think I’ve left the house without it since then.
  4. When friends hang out without me
Idk why I get fomo because I probably didn’t want to go anyway
  5. When everyone looks better than I do
Like, I’m the one who decided to look like bum at dinner but everyone else is in heels with curled hair.
  6. Almost everything I can’t control
I overthink those little things to death.

The Hookup On: Arctic Zero Frozen Dessert!

One of the items on my fall bucket list is to be healthier. After I graduated college, I got on track with a work out routine and with the way I ate. I was pretty happy with myself!

But as the 9-5 work grind kicked in, I ate a little more and worked out a lot less. So I’m just trying to get back on that schedule again…it’s not going so great.

One of my major weaknesses is ice cream. Specifically, gelato. Whenever I have a stressful day at work (which inevitably happens often) I’ll grab a pint of gelato – southern butter pecan, if you were wondering.

I’m super excited about Arctic Zero’s frozen desserts though! I feel like it’s just the thing to get me back on track. Mostly because I can replace my bad ice cream habit with these pints – seriously, the whole thing is usually under 200 calories and it is SO good.

If you’ve been looking for a way to sneak your sweet treats in without feeling guilty, definitely check out Arctic Zero 🙂 I’ll just be over here eating the cookie dough flavor while you browse the website at www.arcticzero.com.

The Hookup On: My Summer Bucket List

It has been proven that writing down your goals will help you to achieve them, but to share your goals with others will hinder your success.

I definitely think there’s a little truth to both parts. So while I’m sharing my summer bucket list with you, I will keep some of my goals a secret – but most I will share here with you 🙂

  1. Read 25 books
  2. Get back into a fitness routine
  3. Visit Nashville
  4. Visit Washington D.C.
  5. Reach 1000 WordPress followers
  6. Dye my hair a crazy color
  7. Shop at farmer’s markets/more locally
  8. Visit the beach at least once a month
  9. Paint a cooler
  10. Reach 2000 Instagram followers
  11. Reach 450 Facebook likes
  12. Be mindful about what I eat
  13. Redo my blog
  14. Visit at least 5 outdoor parks
  15. Go to at least 5 concerts
  16. Go to a soccer game
  17. Watch Italy win the Eurocup
  18. Be happy

Let me know some of the items from your bucket list! And if you have any suggestions for me, I’m open 🙂
