10 Life Tips That I Almost Never Follow

  1. Overthinking won’t help the situation.
I can calm my hectic brain by coloring, journaling, cleaning, etc. But I always let overthinking get the best of me.
  2. Always take your PTO as much as possible.
Take it and use it for something fun. Unfortunately, dentist appointments and car problems often end up being the reasons I take off instead of fun.
  3. Don’t try to drink as much as you did in college.
The hangovers are real and I am often reminded how little I actually like drinking. You don’t have to keep up with people or get drunk just to have fun.
  4. It’s okay to just do nothing.
Not every day has to be the most exciting day of your life, no matter how much fomo you feel from seeing others doing fun things on social media.
  5. It’s okay to be alone.
It’s okay to do things alone, to be single, to need alone time.
  6. Accept help from others.
I know you want to, but you just can’t do it all on your own.
  7. Meditation or some form of de-stressing works.
If you know what works for you, then do it. Don’t put things off or completely shut down from stress if you can avoid it.
  8. Helping others can help yourself.
Sometimes you just get too wrapped up in yourself, helping others may help to clear your head.
  9. There’s always something to be grateful for.
Even when it doesn’t seem like it, you can be grateful that you just made it to work that day or you have a job or that you’re breathing.
  10. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself.
You are not the only person who doesn’t have life figured out, no one has life figured out. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

How I’m Working On Mindfulness

I started doing yoga so I’m probably 10x more annoying than I was before. I’ve been seriously talking about my chi, my throat chakra, and mindfulness like all week.

Basically all that talk has come from me being more aware. I was fully aware of how stressed I was, what health problems I was having, and how I was feeling. But I had no clue how to fix any of it. I just felt stuck in this constant state of anxiety.

Then my yoga instructor described a situation to us. She said that she is often tailgated in traffic because she’s a slow driver. She made it so that now when this happens, there is a moment between the action and her reaction where she takes the time to stay calm. I don’t think many of us take a moment between the action and the reaction, we just ignite as soon as something happens.

I am working on being mindful. Because we so often go throughout our day and never think about why we are doing the things we do. Why did I get up for work this morning? Why did I eat so much crap after dinner? Why did I skip the gym? Why am I so tired? Why do I feel happy?

When you put reasoning and time into the way your feeling, it can help you to understand yourself better and to put more meaning into the activities in your life that seem mundane. So, I am trying to work on my mindfulness.

6 More Things That Make Me A Happier Person

When you’re in a not-so-great place, it is not easy to find five things that will cheer you up. But as you grow, you begin to add to that list. You find more and more things that help put you in the direction you want to be in. The direction of happiness.

Here are five things that made me a happier person when I was a not so happy person. And here are six things that make me a happier person now that I am in a better place:

  1. Celebrating every little thing
We accomplish things on a daily basis and those things should be recognized. You and the people you surround yourself should be proud of everything that you work for. So if you got a raise at work, or hit a goal you’ve been working towards, or just got out of bed today – pop a bottle of champagne because you deserve it.
  2. Writing down what I’m grateful for
Every day I write 10 things I am grateful for in what I call my gratitude journal. Sometimes it’s not easy to come up with 10, sometimes it is. It really makes me reflect on the great things I have in my life.
  3. Picking up an activity that clears your mind
This should be something you can do alone. Get a coloring book. Read a book. I recently started going to yoga classes, but now I can try and practice that alone at home as well.
  4. Setting achievable and reach goals
Ever since I started writing down what I want to achieve, I started accomplishing more. It’s easy to accomplish something like “change my hair in the month of January” and I still feel the reward. It’s a little harder to accomplish things like “get a raise at work” but writing it down will get you there.
  5. Letting go of the things I can’t change for people
I used to feel guilty, a lot, because I’m introverted and often just don’t enjoy going out every weekend or making non stop plans. I am starting to put things into perspective where that’s a part of me that doesn’t need to change and everyone just needs to accept it.
  6. A positive mindset
It seems so simple, but we go into most things negatively whether we mean to or not. Do you want to be happier this year? Then think happy thoughts as often as you can.

10 Thoughts Every Girl Trying To Be Fit Experiences

1. Why can’t I look like her???

Whether we’re watching television, scrolling through Instagram, or staring at the gym – we’re always trying to look like someone else.

2. I need to eat healthy

*Pins a bunch of recipes on Pinterest that you’ll never cook*

3. When did I even start looking like this??

Like I’m pretty sure I woke up one morning with 10 extra pounds and no ability to run.

4. Does that boy think I’m cute or am I doing this machine wrong?

I’m definitely doing this machine wrong…

5. I don’t want to go to the gym.

Then someone says “yes you do!” to encourage you, but no I really freaking don’t.

6. Don’t eat carbs!!!!!!

*eats all the carbs!!!!!!*

7. I give up.

The scale doesn’t move no matter how much I move.

8. No, I can do this.

I’ll try really hard today so I don’t have to do anything tomorrow.

9. Alright, I’m just never going to look like that.

Unless you’re changing mostly EVERYTHING about your lifestyle, it’s going to be difficult for you to have abs. And you’re probably still going to have stretch marks. And cellulite. It’s life.

10. Whatever, I’m happy.

You SHOULD be thinking this, but you should keep bettering yourself if possible 🙂
