Why I Am Obsessed With Summer

The person I am in winter and the person I am in summer are two completely different people. From December to April you can basically guarantee that I am going to be a miserable mush that doesn’t want to do anything but hibernate.

Like actually eat tons of Chipotle to store fat and sleep for months.

I am obsessed with summer and obsessed with the happiness I associate with it. The warmth, sunshine, vacations, and relaxed days bring me to another level. You’ll never hear me complaining about how hot it is because if it’s under 75 degrees out I’m shivering and in pain.

Work is easier during the summer which makes life easier. I can take more days off without worrying, go down to the beach on the weekends, and plan vacations. The sun stays out until 8:30 pm so I can do more after work. Unlike in the winter, when it’s dark before I even get home and I immediately crawl into bed.

Summer came at just the right time for me because winter and spring (was there even a spring? It just felt like an extended winter to me) really put me down and that impacts every part of me. I was getting concerned that I was just permanently a sad person. But now that warmer weather and summer is here, I can feel it all changing for the better again.

What season is your favorite?

My Completed Winter Bucket List

The last day of winter is still a couple of weeks away, it ends on March 19th. But I actually ended up accomplishing almost all of my winter bucket list. The only things I didn’t do were playing in the snow, because there was barely any snow, and crochet a beanie, because I just didn’t have the time or resources. I can also tack on moving out into my own apartment on this list 🙂 I am super proud of myself for all that I accomplished this winter and can’t wait to put together my spring bucket list!

1. Be happy

2. 500 likes on my Facebook page

3. Go to Iceland

4. Go on a weekend trip

5. Take more pictures/go more places

6. Actually enjoy New Years

7. Get into a yoga routine

8. 4,000 instagram followers

9. Change up my hair

10. Make more time for friends

11. Make more time for myself

12. Play in the snow

13. Crochet/knit a beanie

14. Learn something new

15. Continue my commitment to my job

Spring Break Expectations

We made it to the middle of the semester to one of the most hyped up weeks of the year.  Spring Break. You’re about to take your midterms, hand in your papers, and attempt to pick up all of the slack you’ve been ignoring since day one.  Meanwhile, all you can think about is St. Patrick’s Day, Spring Break, and weather that doesn’t make you want to roll up like a burrito in your bed. I know just what you’re thinking:

1. You’ll be bathing-suit ready in the week

Maybe… but the more you’re telling yourself that probably means the less amount of days you’ve actually gone to the gym or stuck to your diet. Truth is, it’s mid-March and we’re all pale and have gained a love-hate relationship with our winter fat layer brought on by too many margaritas at the bar and cheap beer chugged in a frat basement. Embrace it.

2. I’ll never want to go back to school after Spring Break!

Seven straight days of binge drinking is going to make you very grateful that some days you have responsibilities that don’t allow you to drink the night before. You’ll miss school.

3. I’m definitely going to meet the love of my life over Spring Break!

One of the most exciting things about Spring Break is all of the people you’re going to meet. Kids from all over the country rush to places like PCB and Cancun over their breaks. But, to think that you’re going to meet someone you’ll actually speak to after break ends is saying that you’re actually going to remember meeting that person the next day…slightly unlikely.

4. Non-stop drinking and partying!

No, you’re going to need a break from your Spring Break. Even if you’re taking a couple of sober hours just laying on the beach and drinking water, you’re going to want to do something that’s going to help you avoid a two-day hangover and ruin your trip.

5. I’m going to be soooo tan!

Maybe! If you’re ever sober enough to remember to apply sunscreen! Otherwise you might turn into a bright red lobster, or you might not leave the covered bar long enough to get some sunshine.

Enjoy your Spring Break! You only get one per year of college to be unbelievably reckless before it’s frowned upon.
