If We Were Having Coffee – April

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that April is my busy month at work so I haven’t had much time to do anything!

How’s work going?

Most of you know I started a new job back in October. After a year of being really unhappy at my last job (and honestly a track record of being unhappy at every job) it’s weird that I actually like my job. I don’t mind working late and working hard. It’s a new feeling.

Have you done anything besides work?

It feels like no, but the answer is yes. Kaya’s birthday was earlier in the month and we celebrated by getting her a pup cup as is tradition. I also dogsat 2 other dogs so we had a full week of 4 dogs in the house, which was chaos.

We also went out for a friend’s birthday and it was my monthly time to let loose and drink but I’m definitely good for another month or two.

And we went to the Harry Potter exhibit in Philadelphia and I could fully channel my inner Slytherin!

Speaking of Harry Potter, read any books?

Of course! I read:

All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover

The War of Two Queens by Jennifer L Armentrout

Red, White, & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

We also finally finished watching Bridgerton, I liked it but I thought last season was better.

What’s one fun thing from your April?

  1. Two big things:

    (1) In late 2019, I got tickets to see Alan Doyle and the Beautiful Band, for a show in May 2020. The show was postponed twice because of COVID, and it finally happened this April. I was sitting in the second row. It was such a great show.

    (2) An annual event that I go to every year, but that was canceled in 2020 and 2021 because of COVID, was finally back on this year. (The “Spring Picnic” from DLTDGB is based on this event.) So much fun to be there and wander around and see everything again… but my feet are really sore now, still.

  2. I’ve celebrated a couple of family birthdays this month and am getting ready for an upcoming beach trip! My life for the past couple of years was taken over by work due to the pandemic, and things have finally started to feel like they have settled down considerably, so I’m really looking forward to having some normalcy back in my life — getting to be more social, traveling, focusing on side projects and hobbies. I know things probably won’t be like they were before, especially since I’m a textbook introvert and a shameless homebody, but if I can even get a fraction of my old life back I’ll be happy. I don’t need things to change back completely, don’t even want them to, but there are some aspects of my past life I’d like to recapture.
